The ICL3221EM device introduced by Intersil is a 3.0V powered RS-232 transmitter-receiver which meet ElA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 specifications.
ICL3221EM provide ±15kV on transmitter outputs and receiver inputs . The schematic circuit design of the ICL3221EM is very simple and the IC can be used in many applications to interconnect a device and a PC or to transmit data to a PC or other device over a serial port .
The ICL3221EM is compatible with MAX3221E IC manufactured by MAXIM Semiconductor and has many other features like : ESD Protection for RS-232 I/O Pins to ±15kV , RS-232 Compatible with VCC = 2.7V , Meets EIA/TIA-232 and V.28/V.24 Specifications at 3V, On-Chip Voltage Converters Require Only Four External 0.1µF Capacitors , power Supply Range 3.0V to 3.6V .
