LM150 voltage regulator power supply
The LM150 is a positive voltage regulator capable of supplying 3A over a 1.2V to 33V output range.
Requiring only two external resistors to set the output voltage LM150 is is packaged in To3 and To220 standard transistor packages .

The LM150 series offers full overload protection current limit, thermal overload protection and safe area protection.
In operation, the LM150 develops a nominal 1.25V reference voltage ( VREF) between the output and adjustment terminal.
The reference voltage is impressed across program resistor R1 and, since the voltage is constant, a constant current I1 then flows through the output set resistor R2

An input bypass capacitor is recommended. A 0.1 μF disc or 1 μF solid tantalum on the input is suitable input bypassing for almost all applications
When external capacitors are used sometimes is necessary to add protection diodes to prevent the capacitors from discharging through low current points into the regulator.
